Analysis-based communication campaigns
A communication campaign is a coordinated communication effort that reaches a larger or smaller target group with a message that has been thoroughly designed. This is to ensure that the message is understood correctly and has impact in relation to the purpose of the communication campaign.
Great communication campaigns typically start from a creative and meaningful message that functions as a platform for the various activities that must create the desired change.
The prerequisite for creating a successful platform is thorough research into the professional area and a target group analysis, which can provide significant knowledge about the target group's current behavior, attitudes and knowledge. These insights are necessary for a campaign to be successful. A large part of working with a communication campaign is also to ensure that the campaign is appropriate in relation to the sender's other activities and brand.
This is all something we help our customers with when we develop communication campaigns. We do not rest the messages on gut feelings, but on knowledge of the target group which makes a world of difference.
Analysis-based communication campaigns
Communication campaigns designed according to the target group
For some agencies, the right solution is always a poster and a commercial. At Rostra, we choose the communication channels based on a comprehensive analysis of the target group, the sender, the subject and the context.
We develop creative concepts and appealing content for all media and communication channels, both analogue and digital. Simultaneously, we make sure to create a strong link and synergy between the communication in e.g., films, social media, partnerships, PR activities, websites, events, advertising and direct mails.
Digital communication is one of our core competencies. We advise on the platforms, formats and forms of storytelling that the target groups use, and we have broad experience with which types of efforts are most effective. When we decide on a plan for a campaign's use of digital media, we therefore start from the campaign's aim and objectives. For example, we have particularly strong skills within communication campaigns that use the many opportunities to reach target groups on Facebook.
Creative communication campaigns change behavior
If you keep communicating the same messages in the same way to the target group - will the target group change their behavior? Most likely not. Therefore, change and creativity are key concepts when working with campaigns. There are many ways to work with change and creativity. And the methods today go far beyond wordplay and a nice design, although these two classic disciplines still count!
We have worked with all types of behavioral campaigns, attitude campaigns and awareness campaigns for twenty years. Because of this, we draw on an extensive toolbox of creative methods when we develop communication campaigns for our clients. It is very different what is best suited for the specific task. The development of creative concepts is part of our core expertise. We use both structured tools, co-creation and free methods to kick-start the idea development.
Experts in behavioral campaigns for public authorities
In 1999, we managed the first behavioral campaign for less waste on the streets of the City of Copenhagen. We have since then carried out a wide variety of campaigns for the European Commission, the Danish Environmental Protection Agency, the Danish Nature Agency, the Danish Energy Agency, the Danish Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Immigration and Integration, the Ministry of Children and Education, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Danish Health Authority, the Danish Road Directorate, the Capital Region and the Danish Crime Prevention Council.
In short, we are experts in combining creativity with credibility and matter-of-factness. This is the reason for why we are behind some of the most successful behavioral campaigns from public authorities, e.g., "Pure love" from the City of Copenhagen and “Sammen om et hav uden affald” from the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries of Denmark.
Behavioral campaigns using nudging
Rostra was among the very first in Denmark to carry out behavioral campaigns based on nudging – i.e. to push subconscious mechanisms to create behavioral changes.
In 2011, we were behind the behavior campaign “Pure Love” for the City of Copenhagen, which was extremely effective and resulted in significantly less waste outside the city's bins. The behavioral campaign is still present in the streets of Copenhagen, and it has gone on to become one and the same with the capital. Likewise, the behavioral campaign has become a school example of behavioral design in practice, which has also attracted an international interest.
We have completed many other projects using nudging, but also draw on other methods found in behavioral design.

Rostra PR Case Spot
The Danes live in a consumer society, and we are always on the look for products that can sweeten our lives. Because of this, many media focus on products – both the classics and product launches – which can inspire us in terms of how we should arrange our lives and homes in new ways. This is reflected in news pages, news photos and product reviews, which match readers' interests while presenting new stories.
The editors are therefore constantly on the lookout for the latest products and trends, which they can inspire and pass on to their target group. As a PR agency, we are a part of the core activities of the media process, and we are constantly in contact with journalists and editors where we offer a wealth of ideas for how our clients’ products fit in.
PR campaigns provide a different type of publicity than advertisements. Product PR provides publicity characterized by authenticity, relevance and recognition of the product. Therefore, publicity via product PR has a value that money cannot buy at the media's advertising departments.
More than twenty years of experience with public communication campaigns
Thanks to more than twenty years of experience with public communication campaigns, we offer advice and help as well as effective inputs throughout the entire process. Our consultants have worked closely with all types of public authorities over the years and know almost every imaginable challenge.
Campaigns are effective means of communicating a main message. It is also important that you always have a thorough overview of what needs to be communicated to whom and when, so that, e.g., campaigns are carried out at the right times. You only have that overview if the strategy is in place.
